Beaucratic management is quite an old style of management which was introduced as a theory in the 1800's by people like Max Weber.
Even though much of the theories of the earlier centuries exist as of today, this is one theory which might not be applicable practically.
The characteristics of bureaucratic management is that :-
- It is classified accordingly to various criteria in to successive levels in relationship, completion in one main “at the top”.
- Effort to dictated all action and only ruled by rules and regulations. Basically autocratic leadership style.
-Extended use of writing documents
-It main target is to hire and promote staff give work according to their specification.
-Its conduct with strict rules on rationality., i.e. no flexibility.
Thus in times today where businesses work on the basic concept of team work and delegation and job rotation and enrichment and employees prefer working on basis of theories promoted by MC Gregor, such as MC Gregor's motivational theory of X and Y.
The business world is far too progressive to be able to accommodate such a style.
Bureaucratic, generally is such that for example; if companies rely on instruction and process they will be unmanageable and inflexible and it will lead to slow response to changing environment which isn't how the businesses work now a days.
Their environment is boring stable and unchanged, whereas researchers suggest that managers should be working in a constantly changing innovative environment to enhance productivity.
That the need of the organisational structure is to allow them to be responsive and creative.
For example: Now a days employees have a problem of being treated like numbers.
Sole companies are at a disadvantage in today's competitive markets when it comes to innovation.
yes it is true that bureaucratic management holds relevance in the business environment. When everything in management is followed with the right procedural step one is nurtured to embrace the changes that come about time to time due to exposure in different job groups and capacity thus coping up the dynamic business envronment.
