does the shape of the earth affect the living conditions on the planet?

it affects in many ways IE the area near the planet recives more solar energy and have sharp area than others and the middle of the the earth also large solar energy but the area under poles revives less energy than others if the shape of earth is not like this then we faces many problems such as in weather problem, human growth and many more
