Length of line = 2.5 cm

Steps of construction:

Draw a line with a scale of 10 cm and name it AB.

From point A or point B with half the scale of line AB draw an arc and mark it as M.

From point M with half the scale of BM or AM draw an arc and mark it as N.

Hence the required construction.

Calculation:

Consider the figure while going through the below calculations.

AB = 10 cm

M is the mid-point of AB = AB/2 = 10/2 = 5 cm

N is the mid-point of MB = MB/2 = 5/2 = 2.5 cm

Hence the length of the line.
