The human ear is divided into three major parts – the external ear, middle ear and the internal ear.
The external ear consists of the pinna (also known as auricle), external auditory canal and the tympanic membrane or the tympanum which is also known as the ear drum.
The external ear passes the sound waves to the internal ear through the three bones of middle ear, which are also known as the ear ossicles.
