Draw a schematic diagram of a circuit consisting of a battery of 3 cells of
2 V each, a combination of three resistors of 10 ohm , 20 ohm and 30 ohm ?
connected in parallel, a plug key and an ammeter, all connected in series
Use this circuit to find the value of the following:
(a)
Current through each resistor
(b)
Total current in the circuit
(c)
Total effective resistance of the circuit.​

Explanation:

Total Voltage across the resistors is = 2+2+2 = 6V

Solution a:

Current through 10 ohm resistor = V / R = 6 / 10 = 0.6 Amp

Current through 10 ohm resistor = V / R = 6 / 20 = 0.3 Amp

Current through 10 ohm resistor = V / R = 6 / 30 = 0.2 Amp

Solution b:

Total current will be the sum of all three currents = 0.6 +0.2 + 0.3 = 1.1 Amp

Solution c:

Total resistance

1 / R = 1 / 10 + 1/ 20 + 1/ 30

1 / R = 0.1 + 0.05 + 0.033

1 / R = 0.18333

R = 1/ 0.1833

Rnet = 5.45 ohms
