Human respiratory system :-

In human beings air is taken into the body through the nostrils.

The air which is passed through the nostrils is filtered by fine hairs .Mucus is also present there which also helped in this process.

From here the air passes through the throat into the lungs . Rings of Cartilage are present in the throat. These ensure that the air- passage does not collapse.

In lungs the passage divides into smaller tubes at the end of tube the structure seems like balloon these balloon like structure is called alveoli .

The function of alveoli is to provide surface so that exchange of gases can take place there. The alveoli contain an extensive network of blood vessels .

The blood brings Carbon dioxide from the rest of the body and Co2 is released into the alveoli. and the oxygen in the alveolar , air is taken up by the blood vessels and transported to each and every cell of the body .
