draw the velocity-time graph of a stone thrown vertically upward with initial velocity u and then coming downwards after attaining the maximum height h. Use appropriate marking on the velocity Time Scale. The acceleration due to the gravity is g vertically downwards. Also draw the position time graph REMEMBER: DRAW POSITION TIME GRAPH ALSO REPLY AS FAST AS YOU CAN..

Given:

An object has been thrown upwards with initial velocity u . It comes down after reaching a maximum height h .

To draw:

  • Velocity - Time graph

  • Position - Time graph

Concept:

Velocity - Time graph:

We know that velocity is a vector. So , we have to assume its magnitude as well as its direction.

Considering the four direction as positive , the graph will have a negative slope and positive intercept. The graph will be linear because the gravitational acceleration is constant.

Position - Time graph:

For the 1st half of the journey , the position of the body increases with decrease in velocity due to Gravitational acceleration acting downward.

For the 2nd half of the journey , the position of the body again decreases and becomes zero upon reaching the ground.

So the graph will look like a parabola , having concavity downwards .
