The ethnic composition of srilanka is very complex...over 74 % are are sinhala community and 18% are Tamil speakers. Among Tamils are two subgroups. Tamil natives of the country are called 'Srilankan Tamil' (13%). The rest whose forefathers came from India as plantation workers are called Indian Tamil.
