for freefall case weight of body becomes - mass × gravity

Weight during freefall is the same as if stationary .. gravity hasn't ceased or changed in strength so there's the same force of gravity still acting on your mass, giving you weight and causing the acceleration. Free fall is any motion of a body where its weight is the only force acting upon it.
