Collenchyma is the simple permanent tissue.

Explanation:

Following are the few characteristic features of collenchyma cell.

  • The collenchyma is living and mechanical tissue. The cells are oval, spherical or polygonal in shape, also elastic.
  • The intercellular space is absent in collenchyma. It because of deposition on cellulose, hemicellulose and pectin in the corner of the cell wall. These components are carbohydrates. Due to this deposition, they are closely packed with each other.

The cell wall appears thick due to the deposition of materials(carbohydrates).
