 {x}^{2} + 5x + 6 = 0 \\ {x}^{2} + 2x + 3x + 6 = 0 \\ x(x + 2) + 3(x + 2) = 0 \\ (x + 2)(x + 3) = 0 \\ x + 2 = 0 \\ x = - 2 \\ \\ x + 3 = 0 \\ x = - 3

Solution :

To find the value of x,we need to factorise the equation on the LHS by splitting the middle term.

 {x}^{2} + 5x + 6 = 0 \\ {x}^{2} + 2x + 3x + 6 = 0 \\ x(x + 2) + 3(x + 2) = 0 \\ (x + 2)(x + 3) = 0

Now here, either (x + 2) or (x + 3) should be equal to 0 so that their multiplication will give product as zero.

x + 2 = 0 \: or \: x + 3 = 0 \\ x = - 2 \: or \: x = - 3
