Each side of a rectangle is doubled. Find the
ratio between :
(i) perimeters of the original rectangle and
the resulting rectangle. (ii) areas of the original rectangle and the resulting rectangle​

Answer:

(i) original perimeter= l+b

new perimeter of resulting rectangle= 2l + 2b=2(l+b)

therefore required ration of perimeter of original rectangle to resulting rectangle = (l+b)/2(l+b) = 1:2

(ii) area of original rectangle = l*b

area of resulting rectangle = 2l*2b = 4(l*b)

required ratio = (l*b)/4(l*b) = 1:4
