because the friction is less and required grip which is not available on the earthworms...

For anything to walk in a smooth surface there is need for a lot of friction. The earth worms body is usually very smooth leading to less friction which is needed . This then leads to it being difficulty to move on it . Earthworms also have no legs the legs could also help them hold on tothe surface even it is smooth. There is aslo need of a grip which is usually need for the aerthworm to move the smooth surface.
