Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was the builder of Indian Constitution. He was born on 14 April 1891 at Mahu near Indore in Madhya Pradesh to Ramji Maloji Sakpal and Bhimabai Murbadkar in a low caste family of harijan. He experienced caste discrimination right from the childhood. But nothing can stop him to get higher education.
After completing his studies in London, Ambedkar returned to India. He formed the outcaste welfare society and encouraged the untouchables to fight for their rights and a graceful life. In 1930, he represented the untouchables in the Round Table and raises his voice strongly demanding the equal rights for them. In 1936 Dr. B.R. Ambedkar set up the Independent Labor Party and he and many candidates of his party were elected to the Bombay Legislative Assembly. He also introduced a Bill to abolish the Khoti System of land tenure in the Konkan region. In 1947, when India became independent, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru invited Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to join his Cabinet as a Law Minister. He was elected as Chairman of constitution drafting committee. In February 1948, Dr. Ambedkar presented the Draft Constitution before the people of India which was adopted on November 26, 1949. In order to give a unique and beneficial constitution to India he studied the various constitutions and assimilated all good points of them in Indian Constitution. In October 1948, he submitted the Hindu Code Bill to the Constituent Assembly in an attempt to codify the Hindu law but when it was not passed then dejected Ambedkar resign from his position as Law Minister.
