1. Chlorophyll is a green pigment present in the leaves of a plant and it helps to make food.

2. Functions performed by the leaves are:-

i) The main function of a leaf is to produce food for the plant by photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis.

Transpiration.

Guttation.

Storage.

3. Photosynthesis, the process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. During photosynthesis in green plants, light energy is captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds.

4. When food is produced by the leaf it is used by the plant. The leftover food is stored in the form of starch in the plant.
