Hydrochloric acid is a strong acid. It readily decomposes sodium sulfide with the evolution of hydrogen sulfide gas with its characteristic smell of rotten eggs.

                            Na2S + 2HCl = 2NaCl + H2S

Sodium chloride remains in solution...

hope this helps
