Diastrophism or Diastrophic forces is the deformation of Earth's crust (folding and faulting). It can occur through various ways; Orogenic  process of mountain building through severe folding in the long and narrow belt of earth crust. Vertical and horizontal movements which are caused due to forces deep within the earth.

An orogen or orogenic belt develops when a continental plate crumples and is pushed upwards to form one or more mountain ranges.

They operate very slowly and their effects become noticeable after millions of years
