1.In 1956 an act was passed in Sri Lanka to recognised sinhala as the only official language thus disregarding tamils
The government preferred policies that favour the sinhalas to get job in governmental institutions and universities position
Only importance was given to sinhala religion
2. The minorities were denied equal political rights, discriminate them in getting jobs and education and ignoring their needs and interests.
