The coordinates of the centroid of the triangle PQR is (4, 0)

Formula:

If (x₁, y₁), (x₂, y₂) and (x₃, y₃) be the coordinates of the vertices of a triangle, then the coordinates of the centroid of the triangle be

( (x₁ + x₂ + x₂)/3, (y₁ + y₂ + y₃)/3 )

Solution:

The given triangular PQR has vertices P (- 1, 0), Q (5, - 2) and R (8, 2).

∴ using the above formula, we get the coordinates of the centroid of the triangle to be

( (- 1 + 5 + 8)/3, (0 - 2 + 2)/3 )

i.e., ( 12/3, 0/3 )

i.e., (4, 0)
