Answer :
Electromagnetic waves -
When electrically charged particles move under acceleration, alternative electrical and magnetic fields are produced and transmitted. These fields are transmitted in the form of waves which are called electromagnetic waves or electromagnetic radiation.
Some basic properties of electromagnetic waves in motion -
- The electric and magnetic fields are perpendicular to each other as well as they are perpendicular to the direction of the propagation of wave.
- They can even move in vacuum.
- There are many types of electromagnetic radiation on the basis of the frequency or wavelength.
- Only visible spectrum is visible to our eyes or else the other electromagnetic radiations can only be detected by special instruments.
- There a different kinds of units which are used to represent electromagnetic radiations.
- The radiations are categorised by properties like frequency and wavelength.
