Equal lengths of magnesium ribbon are taken in two test tubes. To the first test tube dilute HCL is added and to the second test tube dilute acetic acid is added. Write the reaction and explain what happens.

Case 2

When Magnesium ribbon is added to the second test tube it will react with dilute acetic acid and forms a salt Magnesium acetate and release Hydrogen gas.

Mg +CH3COOH = Mg(CH3COO) + H2
