x  \div 2 + y \div 3 = 8 \\  \\ (3x + 2y) \div 6 = 8 \\  \\ 3x + 2y = 48 \\  \\ 18x + 12y = 288 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  ..........(i)

5x \div 4 - 3y =  - 3 \\  \\ (5x - 12y) \div 4 =  - 3 \\  \\ 5x - 12y =  - 12 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: .............(ii)
eq (i) + (ii)
23x = 276 \\ x = 12 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ................(iii)
using eq (iii) in (ii)
5 \times 12 - 12y =  - 12 \\ 60 - 12y =  - 12 \\ 12y = 72 \\ y = 6
thus x = 12 and y = 6
