My favorite South Korean person is former UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon. He served as the Secretary General of the United nations from 2007 to 2016. He was eighth in line in the list of United nations Secretary Generals.
Mr. Ban Ki-moo was a popular politician and diplomat of South Korea who also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2004 to 2006. Moon was born in 1944 to a middle class family of South Korea. He became a career diplomat ad served in several countries across the world.
Moon succeeded Mr. Kofi Annan as UN Secretary General in 2007. Mr. Moon’s tenure as UN Secretary General was very eventful and he took all possible steps to keep the world away from chaos. Many number of countries have recognized his services and decorated him with awards and recognition.
Moon served as UN Secretary General for two full terms and was succeeded by Mr. Antonio Guterres of Portugal in 2016.
