Yoga is a discipline which was followed in India. It is the only practice, which enrich the spiritual, physical and mind wellness of people. The word Yoga in Sanskrit represents “connection" or “unite" or "attach". Yoga is the only practice which purifies mind, body and spirit altogether.
History of Yoga dates back to several centuries ago and it is specified in the Rigveda. Until 1980, yoga practice was popular only in India, later western world recognized it as a best physical Exercise. Yoga practice is termed as a spiritual practice for attaining an objective, the yoga technique preaches controlling body and mind, the different types of yoga are hatha, mantra and laya. The Yoga Practice encompasses different types of yoga postures and asanas, in order to maintain the body health. The spiritual level of yoga encompasses breathing exercises and meditation to maintain our mental health.
Yoga practice is a popular spiritual practice among Hindus. Buddhists also follow meditation practice as part of their rituals, to attain Enlightenment and several meditation techniques were preserved in prehistoric Buddhist texts.
Apart from the spiritual significance, Yoga also has some other physical and spiritual benefits. Practicing yoga in our day to day life helps in curing illnesses such as stress, headaches, anxiety and blood pressure. Many youngsters are practicing yoga nowadays in order to reducing the stress by activating our nervous system, to increase their energy level, strength, boost their immune system and flexibility. Boosting our immunity is important, because it helps in preventing diseases. It is confirmed that, practicing yoga regularly leads to considerable amount of weight loss by burning up body’s excess fat.
It is also believed that, Yoga practice has the ability to stimulate our intuition, so that we could realize the things happening around us and identify the positive and negative impacts which yield the better results at the end.
Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today joined over 30,000 people here for the second International Yoga Day celebrations as he pitched for treating diseases like diabetes through the ancient spiritual discipline.
Modi, dressed in a white-coloured t-shirt and trouser along with a scarf, led over 30,000 participants, including defence forces personnel and school children, for the second International Day of Yoga celebrations here at the Capitol Complex amid tight security.
The Prime Minister, who arrived here last night, participated in a mass demonstration of 'Common Yoga Protocol'. A yoga enthusiast himself, he performed yoga 'asanas' along with the people at the event.
Over 30,000 people from all ages -- 10,000 each from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana -- performed yoga 'asanas' on pink and blue coloured mats during the event. Separately, about 10,000 people also performed yoga at over 100 other locations in Chandigarh itself.
