Hitler made the biggest mistake by waging war on Russia rather than concentrating on the battle for britain. Hitler underestimated the sheer size of the Red army and although he was only a few miles away from Moscow couldn't capture it because of the harsh winter and depleting supplies.

Hitler’s campaign of Russia was based on his ego rather than his military ambitions. This led to utter chaos in the Wehrmacht who were ordered to change their strategy from time to time based on the führer's will.

Hitler wasted huge amount of resources and time on his ally Italy, who was the most incompetent of the axis powers. Italy was militarily and economically very weak so Hitler had to provide help to Italy in its campaigns in North Africa.

Hitler failed to strike a deal with Stalin to get the natural resources like oil from the Caucasus which he could have used to continue the battle for britain instead of attacking Russia.

He was arrogant in declaring war on USA, and he failed to get Japan open another front on the Russians as even the Japanese had very strong claims of Russian territory.

Germany was surrounded by the Allies on all fronts. Red army on the east, US/UK combined invasion from the south and west. With It's navy completely annihilated, Germany could do very little in fighting the allied invasion and the allied bombing runs were increasing everyday as even the Luftwaffe were obliterated.
