It was 5:30 am, and I was flying above the plains of Punjab. I had one more hour to reach my destination. Since I was lucky enough to have a window seat, I enjoyed the view outside the window, the rising sun and the golden clouds hovering along with us.

After few minutes, I could hear a strange rattling. I ignored it but then, the sound got loud than before. I was clueless, the passengers were looking at each other, flight attendees were questioning each other too.
There were a sudden movement of the plane, causing the whole passengers to painc. My seatmate, an old lady were clinging on to me and praying. I was afraid too that I have to die too soon, I am just 17 years old.

"Please don't panic, seems like due to some technical problems the plane are not having its smoothest flight." We could hear the pilot making the announcement.

There were panic and fear in everyone's eyes, even flight attendants were having problems quieting the noises that were arisen over the pilot's announcement.

We waited but the plane kept moving and the rattling sounds became more prominent. Everyone were now praying to God, and aksing for forgiveness for their sins, and were ready to face death.

I held on to the old lady beside me, she was sobbing. I couldn't help but cry at the same time.

"We are really sorry, but seems like we have some problems at the left wing of the plane. It can be mended but currently we have no engineers with us. The problem seems to get worse with time, and we cannot seem to land. We are really sorry." The pilot announced, and I could see my life flashing infront my eyes.

Then I heard someone, a guy stood up and rushed towards one of the attendant, "I am an areonautical engineer, I can help with it." The guy said.

It felt like the God himself has come to our rescue.

The Engineer along with one of the pilot was escorted to the left wing of the plane.

After few minutes, the rattling of the plane got better and better, till we could no longer hear it.
The Engineer was welcomed with cheers and hugs, we were saved by him. We breathed in relief.

We reached our destination, and I thanked the aeronautical engineer whose name was Rohit Tiwari, and has done his engineering in Punjab Engineering College, and were heading for his new job at ISRO. I was proud and thankful to him at the same time.

The day was near death experience, but we were saved by a savior who were at an exact place at an exact time, and I was really thankful for that.

Explanation:

There was a general air of laughter, relaxed conversation, much rustling of papers when Air India Boeing 737 took off from Delhi airport on its morning flight to Bangalore. Not many had paid any serious attention to the demonstration given by the two pretty air hostesses on what to do in an emergency. Soon, the breakfast trolleys arrived and we enjoyed our breakfast. It was only a four-hour flight from Delhi to Bangalore. My father had opened his briefcase and was looking into some files and I pulled out a book and started reading.

After three hours of smooth flying, the plane suddenly started dipping with a sudden lurch. Passengers, who were standing or walking in th aisles, had to clutch onto the seats to prevent themselves from falling. I looked out of my win and saw nothing but white clouds. Some passengers who were dozing woke up with crie "What happened?". Worried faces looked aroun when another lurch made us jump in the seats.

Suddenly, the lights were on and we heard the Captain's voice on the intercom, "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Captain Mehta speaking. I regret to inform you that the plane has developed engine trouble and I may have to make a forced landing - so tighten up your belts, put on your life jackets. The air hostesses, the steward will keep the emergency exits ready. Try to get out of the plane as soon as It lands. Do not panic. God bless you all."

There was a stunned silence after this

announcement. People were too shocked to react. Then all hell broke loose. Cries, prayers, angry protests, all came together. The trained crew worked swiftly and competently. So the 247 odd passengers were swiftly helped to put on their life jackets, and the masks.

My father quickly put on my jacket and held on to my hand. We were asked to keep our heads down. I could see some passengers helping others. One of the lockers opened and a piece of luggage fell on a woman's head. She gave an almighty scream and the air hostess rushed to her aid.

Meanwhile, the plane was jerking and shuddering. We could make out we overline ^ descending rapidly. The clouds could not be seen and then we heardthe Captain say, "Now! Ready!" I put my fingers in my ears; my father held my hand firmly. I arched my body to receive the crash. There was chaos, screams and everybody was pushing each other out. I felt myself sailing through the Parachute and landed on the hard ground. It was the fastest run I had ever made.

People were running everywhere-some limping, some sobbing, but running, The last to come out was the Captain and the crew. The nightmare wasnot yet over. Exactly 10 minutes later (or was it even less?), we heard a thunderous sound, saw the plane go up in flames which I won't forget for years.

People stood still in shock. It was one of the worst and the strangest crashes. Not a single life was lost, thanks to the skill of the Captain and the selfless service of the crew. Of course, our luggage could not be saved but we were grateful for our lives. I don't think I am ever going to forget that dreadful, terrifying experience.
