Even though petrol and water are liquids , what is difference you observed between them​

Instead the petrol created a layer on the surface of the water. This is because oil is less dense than water and therefore it floats to the surface. When you shook the petrol+Water bottle you might have noticed the oil broke up into tiny beads.
