Like....

By hand.
By using thresher.
By using certain implements.

One example can be seen in villages where the farmer separates the stems of rice or wheat.

Threshing :

The method in which the mixture of solid with solid are separated.

This is a general method used by the farmers to separate grains from the stalks.

The dried stalks are beaten or theresed to separated the grains.

But in large farms threshing is done by using threshing machines.
