Expain the pole formation at the ends of solenoid??

As we know that solenoid is also behaves like a bar magnet so it has both north and south pole. But magnetic field is produce by this only when electricity is provided. So if we want to know the poles of a solenoid then we have to use a bar magnet. As we know same poles repel each other so we shall knew that which one is north pole and which one is south pole.
