Temperature and rainfall are the two main climatic factors responsible for soil formation. Consequently soils display a wide variety of physical and chemical characteristics. In India, soil formation is mainly related to the parent rock material, surface relief,climate and natural vegetation.

Soil is formed by these three factors:-
/- Chemical weathering
/-Physical weathering
/-Growth of plants like peepal on rocks
Chemical weathering-
When it is raining, it consists of weak acids and sometimes strong acids can also fall , these are called acid rains. These acids make the rocks into small particles because of its concentration level.
Physical Weathering-When there are natural phenomena like floods and earth quakes, the rocks fell over each other and will become into small particles due to continuos

rubbing
Growth of rocks on rocks- When plants like peepal grow, the plant will break the rock to grow further. This also results in soil formation
