The farmers rioted for the cultivation of indigo as it was the plant that needed lot of care ...once harvested, no other plant can be grown after indigo...

when the farmers harvested the indigo crop, the do not get sufficient cash for it . As a result the rioted for the indio crop that came to be known as 'blue rebellion '
