The water cycle is simply a process which involves the change of state in the various water bodies of Earth. In this process, water is first converted into vapour state by evaporation , converting into clouds , and the further condensing leads to coversion of the vapours back into the liquid form. This process is repeated again and again and keeps on continuing.

See the diagram.

Water cycle in our ecosystem or Earth is the circulation and flow of water from one form to another and returning to its original form in a cycle.

Water from water bodies like lakes, oceans, seas gets heated due to Sun rays. Water evaporates into vapor and forms clouds in the sky. The clouds when in excess of water or when it cools there, rain onto the Earth. The vapor falls after condensing.

The water falls on mountains and finds its way to the lands and into the rivers and lakes. That flows into the oceans or seas. Also the water falling on the high mountain peaks falls as snow. The snow melts as water during the day and finds its way on the land / valleys into rivers which finally meet an ocean.

Thus the cycle continues.
