if a body falls from rest freely from a height

the motion of a free falling body from a height or the motion of a body thrown vertically upwards from the earth is the one dimensional motion under gravity

!!!

we know that earth attracts objects towards it with a force called gravitational force. and whenever any object is falling with that force towards earth, we say that the objects are in free fall.

when objects are in free fall, there's no change in direction of motion but there will be a change in magnitude of velocity and hence acceleration is involved in free falling objects.

the acceleration due to gravity is denoted by "g"
