There are five types of motivation and they are Power Motivation, Competence Motivation, Fear Motivation, Achievement and Affiliation Motivation.

Power motivated people are good for the organisation which wants a massive change and can take the organisation to its heights.  They are risk takers and should be given a free hand.  Otherwise, they will get demotivated and will not shine.  Example: Mr. Narendra Modi

Competence Motivation: These are the people who would like to do their work perfectly.  They master their work and they get pleasure in solving a problem after analysing in detail.  They also solve their problems in a creative way.  They don’t expect others to teach but are self-learners.  Example: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

Fear Motivation:  This is used for quick results.  People who want immediate results use this to motivate others to perform against their will.  For example, if a person is not giving good results in a target oriented job, the managers would say that if his/her performance is not good for this term, they would be sacked.  This threat makes the person to perform well.  This is often used in the Military training.

Achievement Motivated people are the ones who gets satisfied when they achieve their objectives on or before the stipulated time.  They get pleasure in getting praises from others for achieving their objectives.  Example: Any job which has time limit.

Affiliation motivated people are the ones who has more friends and who are complemented for their cooperation with the peers.  They also have an easy going attitude which will attract people towards them. Example: Public Relation Officer in Entertaining Industry
