ASCII - (American Standard Code for Information Interchange)
It is alphanumeric characters. It contains 7- bits. Total 128 characters. It cannot be used to represent all characters.
UNICODE :
It is a 16 bits - good for languages. It provides codes for 65,000 characters. A bonus for representing alphabets of multiple languages. Used to forging language support.
Main advantage of Unicode is Clint - Server or multi tiered application and websites is the cost saving.
