Their trade network ran from Mesopotamia to northern and central India. Their empire was economic, not military. Indus Valley Civilization agriculture was based upon a highly productive method of raising, storing and transporting domesticated wheat and barley and other crops.
The achievements of the Indus River Valley civilization were the development of irrigation systems to provide food for themselves. The advancement in technology led to carts and early boats used for the main trade and travel. They also had an early sanitation system using buildings for bathing and using the restroom.
