chawls were the shelter homes or you can say they were built
t for workers and their family and for outsiders. they were having very small tenants and they were lined the row of many rooms. there was not well ventilated rooms surrounded by gandagi people could not afford them as they were very expensive for a small family. people used to live in cooperation with their relatives chawls were place of discussion also for people
