Different page views in pagemaker:

There are 'two types of page icons' at the bottom left in the 'PageMaker workbench' for the master pages and the publishing pages.

  • The 'facing pages' (a so-called 'spread') on the 'left are the master pages'. They represent the 'part of the publication's design' called 'template or grid', which is 'the mould' in which you 'pour the text' once the design is finished.
  • The rightmost page icons are those of the publication pages. This is where you import text and graphics and fit them to the design: the actual layout.
