- It is the most important part where digestion of food gets completed
- It is approx 22 feet in length and it is arrange in coil like structure.
- Small intestine is the longest part of the alimentary canal.
- The length of small intestine is depend on our diet.
- Digestive Juices from the liver and pancreas reach the small intestine which help in digesting the semi - digested food (chyme) received from the stomach.
- The liver release bile juice which help to convert acidic medium into alkaline medium and also break the fats.
- The pancreas releases Pancreatic juice which break down carbohydrates, starch, protein, fat etc. with the help of three enzymes which are trypsin, lipase and amylase.
- Small intestine is divide into three main parts - Duodenum, jejunum and Ileum
- The complete digestion happen here in the jejunum
- With the help of duedum part the bile juice and pancreatic juice reach in small intestine.
- With the help of Ileum part the undigested food pass into large intestine (colon part).
- In small intestine medium is alkaline and found 7.1 to 8.2 pH generally
- pH - Power of hydrogen and it scale have 0-14 pH and 7 pH is neutral. When pH increase so the medium is alkaline and decrease so medium is acidic.
