Explain dispersion of white light by a glass prism.​

Dispersion is the splitting of white light into seven colours. In a glass prism when white light (sunlight) falls on its surface it is separated into seven different colours (VIBGYOR)

The phenomenon of splitting of white light into its constituent colours, when it passes through a prism is called dispersion.

This band of seven colours so obtained, the VIBGYOR....is called spectrum....
