(i) It has a larger proportion of clay and hence can retain moisture for a long time.
(ii) It develops deep cracks during summer which helps in aeration.
(iii) These soils are sticky when wet and difficult to work on unless tilled immediately after the first shower or during the pre monsoon period.
(iv) It is rich in Calcium Carbonate, lime, potash but poor in phosphoric contents....
