Fission is a form of asexual reproduction where the cell divides to give rise to two cells each having the potential to regenerate to its full size.
It is the primary form of reproduction in prokaryotes.
In bacteria, the DNA molecule divides into two DNA molecules which then move toward the opposite side of the bacterium.
At the time of this movement, the cell membrane too starts to divide forming two daughter cells.
