Answer:

Cornea is the protective outer cobering of the eye ball. Most of the light is refracted over here into the eye. It helps in protecting eyes from the external environment that maybe harmful for us to a large extent.

Iris is the coloured part of the eye. No right enters or refract over here. It helps in changing the size of pupil(hole in the eye) and thus controls the amount of light entering the eye.
