Answer:
The basic and fundamental unit of all living beings is known as cell. Based on cellular structure cells are of two types 1) Eukaryotic 2)Prokaryotic
Explanation:
CELL-:
- Cell is the fundamental and structural unit of life. The study of cell is known as cytology.
- Robert Hooke first discovered the cell in 1665.After that Anton Van Leeuwenhoek observed cells under higher magnified microscope.
Characteristics of Cells-:
- Cell is responsible for the structure and support of the body of any living organism.
- Cell contains a membrane which sorrounded the cell and protect the organelles inside the cell like nucleus, mitochondria, lysosome, golgibodies etc...
- The nucleus of the cell is responsible for genetic transformation and reproduction of cell and the mitochondria produce ATP known as power house of cell.
Types of cell-:
Based on the cellular structure cells divided into two types 1)Prokaryotic-:
- The cells without a true nucleus is known as prokaryotic cell.
- These are mainly single celled organisms.
- Gentic material may be DNA or RNA.
- Mainly reproduce by asexual form of reproductions.
- Example-: archaea, bacteria etc..
2)Eukaryotic-:
- Eukaryotic cells have a true membrane bound nucleus.
- These are more than one cell.
- They reproduce both sexually and asexually.
- example - : Plants, Fungi, Animals etc
