The decimal expansion of an irrational no. is non terminating and non recurring. Furthermore, an irrational no. can be the root of a number which is not a perfect square.

Decimal expansion of the rational numbers are terminating ,e. g. 0.36, 1.0525 ,etc. or non terminating recurring e. g., 0.66666......, 1.565656...... etc. whereas the decimal expansion of the irrational numbers are non terminating non recurring, e. g. 3.14254782... ...,etc.
