The colored part of the eye which helps regulate the amount of light entering the eye. When there is bright light, the iris closes the pupil to let in less light. And when there is low light, the iris opens up the pupil to let in more light.....

Iris is the colored portion of the eyeball and is suspended between cornea and lens.

 An aperture in the center of iris is called pupil.

 A principal function of iris is to regulate the amount of light entering eye through pupil.

 The diameter of the pupil is regulated by the smooth muscle fibers of iris.

 Iris consists of circular and radial smooth muscle fibers.

These responses are autonomic reflexes.
