In the three states of matter variation arises mainly due to the intermolecular attraction.

Explanation:

  • The three states of matter are: (1)Solid state,(2) Liquid state, (3)Gaseous state
  • Solid state: In solid state molecules are closely packed, because of their strong intermolecular attraction. The molecules can't move freely.
  • Liquid state: In liquid state molecules are bind to each other but their intermolecular attraction are less than that of solid state. They can move freely but always bind to each other.
  • Gaseous state: In gaseous state attraction between the particles are very less, they can move freely anywhere. Distance between the particles are also very less compared to the solid and liquid state.
