Angust has derived much from the eminent social thinkers, from Aristotle to Simen. He obtained the distribution of functions and the combination of effects being the fundamental notion from Aristotle. From Hume and Kant, he obtained the concept of positivism. From Turgot, he got the view of historical determinism. From Simon, he got the famous Law of three stages. They all inspired him.

He significantly achieved the quality of working out an elaborated study of social science.

Comte's outstanding work consist of classification of the hierarchy of science with sociology, the division of it into social statics and social dynamics, law of three stages of universal social progress.

Comte made a hierarchy of sciences, beginning with mathematics and passing through astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology.
