if u want to know how to calculate it
just take out ur normal calculator and write the number and try to press the button of root

See. Take the number 16.We know 4 * 4 =16.Also we know 16/4=4.Now take the number 15.Is this possible to be multiplied twice with the same number as we did with 4?No.So square root is applicable for only those numbers which can be twice multiplied. Examples - 1*1=1,2*2=4,3*3=9,4*4=16,5*5=25 and so on....
