lok sabha is the lower house of the parliament.members of lok sabha are elected by adult universal suffrage and a first past the post system to represent their respective constitutes the lok sabha speaker is sumitra mahajan from BJP party

LOK SABHA-

1.it is also known as the lower house.

2.it is the house of people of india. means it represents the people of india.

3.maximum strength shall not exceed 550. out of this,530 members are directly elected from the states whereas the remaining 20 are elected from the union territories.

4.elections are based on secret ballot

5. normal tenure of lok sabha is 5 years but the president of india may dissolve it earlier also on the legal advice of the PM.

6. qualifications needed are- the person must be a citizen of india,completed 25 years of age anf shouldn't be a govt. servant.

7.power and functions of lok sabha speaker is to maintain the decorum of the house,preside over the meetings,recieve petitions and documents. he/she presides over the joint sitting of both the houses also
